About the event

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, WIN Book Club will be reading The House of the Spirits, the 1982 debut novel of Chilean-American author Isabel Allende. This is a multi-generational saga that blends magical realism with the history and politics of an unnamed South American country, focusing on the Trueba family. The story follows the family over several generations, encompassing love, power, and the supernatural amidst societal and political upheavals, including a violent military takeover. The novel was a best-seller, critically acclaimed, and has been translated into many languages.
